| Instructions for translators |
For "App UI":
JellyCine is a Jellyfin/Emby media streaming client for Android, TV, and iOS.
Guidelines:
-
Keep translations concise — most strings appear in buttons, labels, and toasts
-
Preserve placeholders like %1$s, %1$d, %2$s exactly as they are
-
Don't translate: JellyCine, Jellyfin, Emby, Seerr, Quick Connect
-
Technical terms to keep in English: URL, HTTPS, HTTP, SSL, API
-
For media terms, use the standard localized version (e.g., "Saison" for Season in French)
-
Match the tone: casual but informative, not overly formal
-
If a string has ' (escaped apostrophe), keep the backslash
-
Test string length — Android UI may clip long translations
For "Data Layer":
These are error messages shown to users when something goes wrong.
Guidelines:
-
Keep translations concise and helpful
-
Preserve placeholders like %1$s, %1$d, %2$s exactly as they are
-
Don't translate: JellyCine, Jellyfin, Emby, Seerr, HTTP, SSL, URL
-
Error messages should be clear about what went wrong and what the user can do
-
Match the tone of the English: direct and informative
